Dr. Michael P. Ryan
Professor
Ryan teaches and conducts research regarding international
political economy, with emphasis on trade and intellectual
property law, policy and management, multilateral institutions
such as the World Trade Organization, the World Bank, and the
World Intellectual Property Organization, and comparative
economic systems and social philosophies. He is presently
co-authoring Knowledge Management: Technology, Intellectual
Property, and Organization. Professor Ryan is the author of
Knowledge Diplomacy: Global Competition and the Politics of
Intellectual Property and Playing by the Rules: American Trade
Power and Diplomacy in the Pacific, as well as articles that
have appeared in journals of political science, law, and
international relations. He was an assistant professor on the
M.B.A. faculty of the University of Michigan Business School, a
guest scholar at the Brookings Institute, and a guest lecturer
at China University of Law and Political Science and he has
recently lectured regarding intellectual property around the
world. Professor Ryan has also established executive education
courses regarding electronic commerce and technology management
courses. He is a member of the Academy of International
Business, the American Political Science Association, and the
